The envisaged starting date is July 1, 2012. Funding for this position is presently available until October 31, 2012. Additional funds to extend the position are applied for. The position is initially to be filled for 4 months. Under the condition of the funding of the proposal the position is to be filled up to 2 years with an optional extension of one year depending on an evaluation. Applicants are required to have a PhD in one of the following fields:
sedimentology, coastal geosciences & engineering, marine resources, petrology, geophysics
The main tasks of the Associate Scientists will be to stimulate interdisciplinary exchange within the Graduate School, in establishing topical courses and monthly PhD workshops, and in supporting the PhD students. In addition, the Associate Scientists are expected to develop their own research with respect to sea floor studies within the thematic framework of the school.
