The School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geography, Environmental Management and Planning. The School is seeking to develop its integrative expertise in marine and coastal issues which extend beyond both the bio- and geoscience, into the domains of physical oceanography, coastal management, planning and governance.
The School offers a wide range of undergraduate programs including Bachelor’s degrees in Regional and Town Planning, Environmental Management, Arts (Geography) and Science (Geographical Science). It also provides postgraduate training in research via the Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy and currently has over 100 students enrolled in these degrees. The School has a strong research profile and enjoys an excellent success rate in nationally competitive grants and has a solid record of high quality publications.
The role: The successful appointee will engage as a senior academic in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, postgraduate research supervision, and further development of Biophysical Oceanography in the School’s Geography Program, as well as performing research in Satellite and Biophysical Oceanography, and further development of the School’s strength in marine science and management.
The person: Applicants should possess PhD in the area of Satellite or Biophysical Oceanography and have experience in developing a marine science major at university level, along with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and in actively running and managing a research portfolio.
Remuneration: This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic Level B/C. The remuneration package for Academic Level B will be in the range AUD$81,857 – $97,205 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total remuneration package will be in the range AUD$95,773 – $113,730 p.a.). The remuneration package for Academic Level C will be in the range AUD$100,275 – $115,623 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total remuneration package will be in the range AUD$117,322 – $135,279 p.a.)
