Post Doctoral Research Assistant

The Institute of Aquaculture, School of Natural Sciences is offering a post-doctoral research assistant (PDRA) post to work with Prof. Douglas Tocher on a BBSRC-funded project entitled “Evaluating novel plant oilseeds enriched in omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids to support sustainable development of aquaculture”. The post is offered as a fixed term, full-time appointment for 35 month to start 1 April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful applicant will report to Prof. Douglas Tocher and be responsible for collecting all the data and samples from the nutritional trials, but will be largely laboratory-based conducting all the biochemical and molecular analyses, and cell-based studies. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the project and help the PI to coordinate/manage the project.
