About the role:
We are seeking to recruit a Professor/Associate professor in marine geology. Our new Professor/Associate professor will strengthen and further develop marine geological research in the Arctic, as well as being responsible for teaching marine geology at undergraduate and graduate level. This includes marine geological cruses.
The Department of Geology is looking for a dynamic candidate with expertise in one or more of the following fields: sedimentary processes of high-latitude marine environments, Arctic glacial history, marine geohazards, fjord paleoenvironments and modern environments. The person applying for the position should have experience in high latitude sea-based teaching and marine geological cruises. Participation in International Ocean drilling Program (IODP) cruises is an additional advantage.
We are seeking a Professor/Associate professor with a strong scientific publication record, and a proven ability to initiate and manage research projects. Further, applicants should be able to document teaching qualifications at university-level.

The Department of Geology is organized under The Faculty of Science and Technology, currently has approximately 20 scientific positions, 20 PhD-students and 230 graduate and undergraduate students.
The Department is organized into three research groups: Crustal Dynamics, Coastal and Terrestrial Geosciences, and Polar Marine Geology and Geophysics and hosts approx. 230 students. The Department of Geology offers courses at all levels, from bachelor to PhD studies. The Institute stimulates research and education within strategic important field- and knowledge areas as for example energy, resources and climate. A newly funded Centre of Excellence (CoE) allows achieving an international recognized research level.
