Three postdoctoral positions in theoretical and statistical plankton ecology

Three postdoctoral research positions are available in the labs of Elena Litchman and Chris Klausmeier to develop mathematical and statistical models in plankton ecology.

Modeling community dynamics in Lake Baikal and analyzing long-term plankton data (job #6136). Funded by NSF grant “Dimensions: Collaborative Research: Lake Baikal Responses to Global Change: The Role of Genetic, Functional and Taxonomic Diversity in the Plankton”.

Using trait-based and community models to optimize algal biofuel polycultures (job #6137). Funded by NSF grant “Experimental and theoretical trait-based approaches to optimizing algal biofuel polycultures”.

Investigating community dynamics in spatially and temporally varying environments (job #6138). Funded by NSF grant “CAREER: Modeling Complexity in Plankton Communities”. Basic qualifications are a PhD in ecology, mathematics, or a related field, and a strong interest in quantitative ecology. Knowledge of phytoplankton ecology, limnology, or oceanography is a plus.

The postdocs will be based at Michigan State University’s Kellogg Biological Station http://www.kbs.msu.edu. Each position is for one year, with a possibility of renewal, given satisfactory performance.
