The School wishes to appoint a Lecturer to develop teaching of Marine Biology and Marine Ecology through the medium of Welsh and, working within the established programmes, develop new provision in the medium of Welsh that complements and runs in parallel with existing marine biology lecture and practical modules in the SOS degree programmes.

The successful candidate will teach, through the medium of Welsh, marine ecology and other marine science subjects at all Undergraduate and Masters levels and support teaching of Marine Biology and Physical Oceanography students including research project supervision as appropriate.

The successful candidate will develop a vigorous and exciting programme of collaboration between Welsh schools nationally and the SOS, with particular emphasis on encouraging Welsh speaking students to register for degrees in SOS. They will carry out curiosity driven and applied research into the marine environment, with particular emphasis on the distribution, behaviour, population biology and ecology of marine organisms in coastal and shelf seas. They will undertake interdisciplinary research and ideally undertake sea-going research using the RV Prince Madog.

The post is funded by Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and is tenable for 5 years in the first instance. The successful candidate will be expected to commence 1st January 2013, or as soon as possible thereafter, and the post is available for a period of 5 years. Experience of professional practice or teaching through the medium of Welsh is essential.
